Women love to shop all the time. They are never satisfied with the clothes they have. They are always looking to keep up with the latest styles and fashions. They spend all their spare time shopping or at least window shopping.

Go to your local mall and you will see the amount of shops selling women’s clothing compared to all other consumer areas such as men and children’s clothing. There is really no comparison.

I have conducted a bit of my own research in a few popular malls. The Palisades Center in Rockland County, Kings Plaza in Brooklyn, NY and the Aventura Mall in Florida. In each of these three malls, the amount of women’s clothing stores greatly surpasses both the amount of men’s clothing stores, and the amount of children’s clothingstores.

In the Palisades Center Mall there are 41 different women’s clothing shops, while there are only 23 for men and 13 for children.

In the Kings Plaza there are 31 stores selling women’s clothing, selling men’s 22, and 7 selling children ’s. The Aventura Mall has 89 women’s clothing stores, 49 men’s stores and 21 children’s stores.

So what is the reason for this? Why do women shop so much?

Well, firstly because a woman always feels she needs to look good. She needs to be comfortable with what she is wearing. So much so, that even women who are not blessed with beauty will still feel the need to stand in front of the mirror for hours trying on all of her dresses and outfits until she feels satisfied with what she iswearing. Shopping for clothing gives women and girls a certain confidence. When they know they have so many beautiful articles of clothing, so many different options to choose from, they feel like they can really look good. To have very many outfits, and many pairs of shoes to work with, until they are satisfied that they are wearing the perfect ensemble.

Another reason women love to shop so much is because they feel they can not wear the same clothes too often. They need so many different sweaters, skirts and shoes, so that they will never end up wearing the same thing too often. Most women will never be seen wearing the same outfit to work more than once a month. You will also notice that women will never wear the same dress to more than oneoccasion.

A third reason women love to shop is because it is part of their inborn nature. Shopping is a women’s hobby. Just like almost all men enjoy sports, practically all women enjoy shopping. A woman can spend hours at the mall just to have a good time.

Women also love to shop because they have! All women love to have an abundance of anything they can. Clothing is no different.

Because of these reasons, and many others, the markets are flooded with fashion artists and products geared to women and women’s fashion. Even at the checkout counter in the supermarket, you will see dozens of fashion magazines and celebrity gossip magazines (because women want to know what the celebrities on Hollywood arewearing this season) ready to be grabbed and put into your shopping cart.

When you go shopping, you will definitely be spoiled for choice and you will probably end up spending more time and money then you planned. You may even spend more money than you actually have!

Monticello Raceway has been providing harness racing fans with late sporting entertainment since it opened in 1958. Just 90 miles from New York City, it is located in the beautiful Catskills region. Monticello has always been known for pushing the envelope with promotions, like the one they did in 1980 called Rock ‘n Racing, which featured many of the biggest names in music.

Now they have added a lady driver only race. There are very few harness races that are reserved just for female drivers, but the Lady Godiva Peace, held on Valentine’s Day, is one to remember. With more women driving harness horses, there is a lot more interest in a race for women only.

Some of the more famous women sulky drivers includes Bea Farber, who retired in1995 due to arthritis in her hands. She still holds the women’s record of wins in her career 1.801. She won her first major title in 1973. Jackie Ingrassia of England is harness racing’s current leader for women, with trips to the 1.032 winner’s circle so far. She became enamored of harness racing at the age of 12. Anne Wheeler, who drives primarily, trotters has 803 wins. Canadian driver, Mildred Williams had a racing series named in her honor. She was one of the first women drivers in harness racing in the 1950s and ‘ 60s, and racked up over 500 wins. She was a key player in getting the United States Trotting Association and the Canadian Trotting Association to give women licenses to drive harness horses. Mildred continued to present the award to thewinner of this series well into her 90s. She recently passed away in 2008.

Even with more women choosing to drive harness horses professionally, most of the women drivers still participate in amateur racing only. Professional driving is very competitive, even among the men. Many of the amateur lady drivers are also trainers or owners and they don’t have the time to drive professionally as well as train or attend to other racing-related duties. Some find it difficult to balance the running of their stable with the demands of racing to win professional meets. Nevertheless, some of these amateur women do make the transition up to the big leagues.

In general, observers have noted that the ladies are a bit more patient at the beginning of the race,but at the end they are just as aggressive, if not more so, than the men. The women tend to let their horses settle into their stride before urging them into the race.

One of the amazing things about this sport is that women have been driving in competitions since 1912. Records exist showing women driving trotters in a race sitting in a four-wheeled cart. Considering that women were not allowed to do a lot outside of a very limited circle of choices in 1912, it speaks to the progressiveness of harness racing in general.

Soccer has become increasingly more popular in the United States in the last 30 years, with nearly 3 million children between the ages of 5-19 now playing in youth soccer leagues throughout the nation.

Soccer began in England in the mid-1800 ’s, and was originally played by the higher, more aristocratic English classes in their boarding schools and private clubs. Although it took the United States years to enter the soccer arena on a widespread basis, the U.S. Soccer Federation (SOCCER FEDERATION) was formed in 1913. Unfortunately, most Americans preferred watching (and playing) a different form of the sport –American football–until a Brazilian named Pele, (considered the greatest soccer player of all time), joined the team in 1975 N.Y. Cosmos. With such an amazing player to watch in America, popularity of the sport grew throughout the states, until his retirement in 1977, when soccer once again took a backseat to football. Following Pele’s retirement, the North American Soccer League slowly lost fan support, finally dissolving in 1985.

Football is a very popular competitive team sport. The object of this game is to score more points than the other team. Safe bases are so the first baseman and the runner do not collide with one another during game play. You will typically see these bases in children’s softball and women’s softball games. Points are also calculated by how many players have crossed home plate. After so many strikes, the teams switchplaces from outfield to batting.

Basketball
This is also a competitive team sport. Played with a large round ball and a hoop or a basket. The object of this game is to get the ball into the hoop more times than the other team. Each time the ball goes into the hoop points are scored. The value of points depends on where the player is standing when they shoot the ball into the hoop. The court is a solid flat ground with baskets or hoops on each end. There are different size courts depending on who is playing. Regulation court size is 94 feet by 50 feet.
